A bit of a night owl, this artist usually works into the wee hours by the glow of the lamp. She is stubborn and impatient and finds beauty in imperfection. Capricious but balanced, she feels pulled towards extremes: starlight and sunspots, metropolitan life and the family homestead, motorcycles and lacy frocks, and of course, red and aqua. Content and restless at the same time, she seeks balance outside her real life as a social worker through yarn, ink, beach glass, and other shiny objects. One day she learned to knit in Ireland, but now she has returned home to Chatham, where she spends some of her time making things that might just be considered art.
Persephone’s Awakening began on April 12, 2005 because the Muse didn’t want to write her final papers. She made some purses instead, and after a period of sporadic enthusiam whereby she challenged herself to make 30 Bags in 30 Days (you can follow that adventure here), she tired of handbags and started experimenting with other crafts.
You can count on the fact that your item will be made with a mix of repurposed items (thrifted sheets, sweaters, felt, etc) and vintage buttons or ribbon that come right from Nana’s collection. It’s a beautiful thing.
Please feel free to contact the Muse should you have any questions, comments, or requests.
Blessings,
Jen
