Thankfulness

I was tagged by Teeni to complete this meme about thankfulness. What am I thankful for?

1. Nature. There’s nothing more relaxing than taking time to watch what Nature does. I can hear the grass growing sometimes.
2. Opportunity. In my line of work, I see firsthand that I have had opportunities that others are not as fortunate to have. This has helped me get to where I am in life, and for that I am thankful.
3. Colour and light. How boring would life be without changes in colour, light – the sky, the sun, the water. Shadow. Have you ever stopped to think about how these things influence how you see the world?
4. Water. I visited my family in France long ago and could not understand why I was not allowed to run a full bath. Living in the middle of the Great Lakes means that I have access to vast amounts of (somewhat) clean water to drink and use. I must become more conservative with my use, though.
5. Mistakes. Without these I would not learn or make progress in my life. Without feeling threatened and defensive I would not be able to grow. It is from these shadow feelings that I am able to see my growing edge. I don’t want to be stuck. I am so very thankful for the mistakes I’ve made.
6. Weather. Intrigue. I am fascinated by the weather. And by glaciation and geography in general. Perhaps I should change this to “intrigue”. What could better spurn me on in my quest for knowledge?
7. People. A little vague? That’s okay. I am thankful for people – not just family and friends, but strangers and clients and everyone that I meet each day. Each person leaves some small impression on me – even if it goes unnoticed at the moment. What did I learn from the person in my first year class who never stopped talking? Patience. And the little boy who still wants to see his dad? Forgiveness. And so on and so forth.

And I have to share my thinking-progress about my living room… later. It’s almost 11 pm and I don’t want to be on the computer at 11 pm. I’ll upload the photos later this week.
