A Saturday with Aunt Cindy

I don’t get to have one on one time with my Aunt Cindy very often; in fact, I haven’t had that chance since I was very young - back in the day when people thought I was her daughter. I digress, on the 17th of February, she and I met for lunch then headed out to Tilbury to the good ole Antique Barn. She highly recommended it for a first-time antique venture.

I walked in and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. Stall after stall (heated of course) of glittering necklaces, beautiful linen, vase after vase of depression glass, tins galore, and a variety of other goodies. It took us five hours to finish shopping, and I probably could have done a once-more-over of every single stall. Here’s what I bought:

Antiquing Treasures

1. Blue tin toolbox - for my tools. No longer housed in a cardboard pattern box! (8$)
2. A variety of vintage cards - birthday, easter, etc. (4$)
3. A Jesus postcard that I picked up for Bobby’s mom. The back reads: “Hi Jane, Hope you’re having a good time and when are you coming to visit and bring some butter. By By Eliza.” I thought it was hilarious! (2$)
4. A faux pink pearl necklace. (6$)
5. A white china plate with pink roses along the rim. One day when I get married I chose not to select a china pattern, but a china THEME, so that when people are out thrifting/garage sailing/antiquing they can pick up a piece for me so that I have a lovely mismatched set to work with! (5$)
But wait.. I have something REALLY nice to show off. Item number six!

Antiquing Finds

6. The table set. it’s refinished, with the lovely drawer, and an enamel/ceramic top. (110$)

Is that fabulous, or what? The best part is that it fit perfectly in my car. Oh SX4! I just so happened to catch the table in a really pretty light the other day. I had put my amyrillis on it, and my colander was on it too. Can you tell that the wall behind it isn’t finished?
